Indiana Fever stars Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston are in Berlin for the FIBA World Cup. They are part of Team USA’s star-studded lineup, aiming to take home the world championship for the fifth consecutive time.
Second-year Indiana forward-center Makayla Timpson expressed excitement about watching her teammates compete with the national team.
Timpson and Indiana are on a two-game winning streak after they defeated the Connecticut Sun 111-91 on Friday. She told reporters during the postgame presser that she and her teammates plan to tune in to watch Clark and Boston play in the World Cup.
“Going in on a high note, we’re going to support [Boston] and [Clark],” Timpson said. “We’re going to watch them on our TV and everything.”
The three-time All-Star guard then jokingly asked the 23-year-old if she plans to wake up early for Team USA’s first game against China.
“You’re going to get up? 8:15 (a.m.),” Clark asked.
Timpson confidently responded, saying, “Yeah, man. I’m excited.”
The Fever reacted to Timpson’s comments.
“set your alarm KK ⏰,” the team wrote.
“Makayla Timpson is ready to tune in early tomorrow morning to watch Aliyah Boston & Caitlin Clark take the World Cup stage for the very first time 🤩”
Clark and Team USA will play three games in the group stage. The Americans are expected to advance to the knockout phase, with the quarterfinals scheduled on Sept. 10.
The national team’s roster includes some of the WNBA’s biggest stars like Angel Reese, Paige Bueckers and Breanna Stewart, among others.
As for Timpson, Clark and the Fever, their next game is set for Sept. 18 at Coca-Cola Coliseum versus the Toronto Tempo. They have four games left in the regular season and currently sit fifth in the standings with a 26-14 record.
