The Indiana Fever suffered a frustrating 86-84 defeat to the Las Vegas Aces on Thursday. The team led by as many as 20 points and was so close to winning the game in both the fourth quarter and overtime, but two costly errors from Caitlin Clark ultimately doomed them.
Despite the loss, All-Star guard Kelsey Mitchell gave the Fever a reason to celebrate, at least a little bit.
Mitchell finished the contest with 28 points on 10-of-18 shooting, along with four assists and two steals. With her performance, she extended her 20-point streak to 15 straight games, tying the WNBA's single-season record.

"Kelsey Mitchell’s 15 straight games with 20+ points is now tied for the longest single-season streak in WNBA history," the Fever posted on social media after the loss to the Aces.
Interestingly, it was Aces star A'ja Wilson whom Mitchell tied for the record. Wilson set the record at the start of the 2024 season.
For what it's worth, Wilson still holds the record for the longest 20-point streak with 20. It's not a single-season record since she achieved it over two seasons in 2023 and 2024.
Mitchell now has a chance to set a new single-season record when the Fever play the Chicago Sky on Saturday. It won't be easy, though, since the Sky have the seventh-best defensive rating in the WNBA this season.
Furthermore, when Indiana last played Chicago in June, Mitchell was only able to score 19 points on 7-of-17 shooting. Sure enough, the Sky will look to contain her once again in a bid to keep their playoff hopes alive.
