Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever are leaving it all on the line on Tuesday night. They have their back against the wall as they face elimination in Game 2 of their first-round series against the defending champions, the Las Vegas Aces.
In Game 1 on Sunday, Clark logged a 15-point, 10-assist double-double in 34 minutes. It was far from enough, as the Fever suffered a deflating 102-85 loss at the hands of A’ja Wilson and Co.
Clark knew what was at stake in Game 2, and the three-time All-Star kept her foot on the gas. Clark brought the energy from the get-go and made WNBA history before halftime.
Clark played all but 16 seconds of the first half. She entered the break with 14 points, four rebounds, 11 assists and two three-pointers.
The Fever took to social media to announce Clark’s latest career milestone.
“a first half double-double for CC 😈 … she’s the first player in league history to record a points/assists double-double in a half in the playoffs,” the Fever posted on X.
In addition to her new double-double record, Clark also passed WNBA legend Sue Bird for a playoff assist milestone. The Fever superstar’s 11 assists is now the most in a single half in WNBA playoff history, per ESPN Insights.
The Fever will need more of the same from Clark in the second half if they want to keep their championship hopes alive. They entered the break with a slim 48-43 lead. As of this writing, the Fever still lead 52-47 with 7:11 remaining in the third quarter.
