The Indiana Fever lost to the Las Vegas Aces in blowout fashion in Game 1 of their first-round series. However, that didn’t stop Caitlin Clark from making WNBA playoff history for the franchise.
Clark struggled shooting the ball, finishing with 15 points on 6-of-17 shooting. She also had six of the team’s 16 total turnovers, which Stephanie White cited as a major issue in the Fever’s loss.
However, the All-Star playmaker also dished out 10 assists, which is a playoff career high for Clark. Her previous personal best was nine assists against the Connecticut Sun in 2024.
Furthermore, according to the Fever, Clark’s assist mark is the second-most in a playoff game in the franchise’s history. She was only one dime short of tying Tamika Catchings’ record of 11 assists, which she set in 2009.
For what it’s worth, it was also Clark’s first career double-double in the playoffs.

Sure enough, it will be interesting to see if Clark will be able to break Catchings’ record in Game 2 of their series against the Aces. The two teams will face each other again at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Tuesday.
According to ESPN’s Matchup Predictor, Indiana is favored to win the contest at home, with a 52.4% chance compared to the Aces’ 47.6%.
Indiana needs to win Game 2 if it wants to extend the series. However, as was evident in Game 1, Indiana struggled offensively as a team, unable to take advantage of the transition offense that makes them so dangerous.
