Sophie Cunningham and the Indiana Fever secured their fourth straight win on Sunday night, jumping to 23-12 on the 2026 WNBA season after taking down Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream in overtime 95-91. And on Tuesday, the Fever looked to keep their winning streak alive as they faced Marina Mabrey and the Toronto Tempo on the road.
Since the Fever acquired the former Phoenix Mercury guard ahead of the 2025 season, Cunningham has become a fan favorite in Indiana while playing alongside Caitlin Clark. She has even earned the nickname of the Fever’s “enforcer” for consistently standing up for her teammates during on-court altercations.
Cunningham has backed that up with her play as well, averaging 8.7 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 34 games during the 2026 season, including 31 appearances off the bench.

Cunningham’s Fever teammates are certainly happy to have her on the roster. And in a recent interview, Indiana forward Makayla Timpson had nothing but praise for Cunningham, calling the veteran guard “feisty” and an “incredible teammate.”
“Oh Sophie, she’s a character,” Timpson said. “But you know, if you get on her bad side, she’s gonna be that type of person. She’s a good person, though. She’s a great teammate overall. She’s just feisty. She’s got that tenacity about her. That’s her game. Last year, she did something and it blew up. It didn’t surprise me, honestly. Everybody loves it. We love it, and we’re just going to continue to support whatever she does on the court, whatever she wants to go viral about. That’s our girl!”
Like Cunningham, Timpson is also in her second season with the Indiana Fever, having been selected in the second round of the 2025 WNBA Draft. Averaging 4.9 points and 4.4 rebounds per game this year, Timpson’s play has been good enough to recently earn a spot in the starting frontcourt next to Aliyah Boston.
Following the Tempo game, the Fever will be back in action on Thursday, facing the Dallas Wings at 8 p.m. ET.
