The Indiana Fever have decided not to punish the fan who got into a heated argument with Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson during Game 2 of their first-round series in the WNBA playoffs.
Late in the fourth quarter, Wilson was assessed a technical foul after she approached a fan who pointed at her. As tempers flared, Aces players and game officials tried to de-escalate the situation.
The fan was removed from their seat before play resumed, with the Fever taking a free throw as a result of Wilson’s tech.
However, it’s worth noting that the fan in question was eventually allowed to come back into the arena. In a statement before Caitlin Clark, Raven Johnson and Stephanie White talked to the media, a Fever spokesperson confirmed that security didn’t find the fan to have committed any violation.
“We had security look into it. There was found no violation of fan code of conduct, therefore the fan was allowed back in. We consider that matter closed,” the spokesperson said.

A’ja Wilson speaks out after incident
Wilson, for her part, was not happy with the incident and shared her side of the story in the Aces’ postgame press conference.
“If I see a man come at me, taking steps towards me and pointing at me, I don’t give a [expletive] what you said, I don’t give a [expletive] how you said [it], the tone. That is unacceptable. You don’t step towards me, you never point at me.”
Wilson also saw the fan being allowed back, and while she refused to comment further on the decision, she did say that she apologized to her teammates for getting a tech.
It’s worth noting that Wilson is now set to pay a $500 fine to the WNBA as a result of her technical foul.
Making matters worse for Wilson and the Aces, they lost to the Fever in Game 2, 99-89. The series is now tied at 1-1 and will head to a do-or-die Game 3 on Thursday.
