The Indiana Fever could have “trouble” finding players to play alongside Caitlin Clark next season.
Fever star guard Kelsey Mitchell is hitting free agency. The former Ohio State Buckeyes star is planning to be “selfish” with her decision.
“I have to be selfish,” said Mitchell, who is coming off the best year of her career. “I think that’s where I am in my career … what I probably need and what’s probably best for me. So I have to be selfish in that room.
“But I think, ultimately, being on the Fever and being a part of an organization that does come with a lot of ups and downs, what factors in and what is important for me is, obviously, having a good chemistry on and off the floor. I’ve only been with one team my entire career, so it’s all kind of like figuring this out. It’s hard, man.”

Former ESPN star Jason Whitlock believes it could be difficult.
“Kelsey Mitchell just had the most efficient scoring season we’ve ever had in women’s basketball. If she leaves, don’t be surprised if the Fever have trouble attracting players willing to play alongside the Caitlin Clark content cult. Not CC. The cult is the problem,” he writes.
Former NBA star Etan Thomas agrees.
“Ok I typically disagree with everything that Jason Whitlock says, writes, feels and thinks, but…….and I never thought I would ever be saying this but, I agree with everything he said here,” he shared.
It could be a very interesting offseason in Indiana, as the Fever look to rebuild around Clark.
