The Indiana Fever’s WNBA championship bid ended after losing to the Las Vegas Aces in the playoffs. They couldn’t overcome the defending champions, losing 2-1 in their first-round matchup.
The 2025 WNBA Commissioner’s Cup champions face a pivotal offseason as they look to build on their record-breaking campaign. Despite the first-round exit, the Fever set a franchise record with 28 wins.
The Fever also marked a big win off the court during the season with their breast cancer awareness campaign. The team announced Tuesday that it raised over $35,000 through the initiative. They will donate the proceeds to Ascension St. Vincent in support of breast cancer screenings and preventive education for women.
The Fever announced the update in an Instagram post.
“In August, we celebrated breast cancer survivors as part of Pink for Purpose Night presented by @stvincentin. Together, we raised over $35,000 through player-worn & autographed memorabilia, with the Kay Yow Cancer Fund matching every dollar to provide free cancer screenings for women in underserved Indiana communities 👏” the announcement read.
They held the Pink for Purpose Night on Aug. 28 during their game against the Connecticut Sun. Fever fans bid on game-worn shooting shirts and sneakers through an online auction following Indiana’s 111-91 win.
Their initial goal was to raise $25,000, with the Kay Yow Cancer Fund matching every dollar. But with support from Fever fans, the team significantly exceeded that monetary goal.
The Pink for Purpose Night is a part of a two-year partnership between the Fever and the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
“Actually life-changing,” said a beneficiary of the Kay Yow Fund. “This is my first Fever game. To still be standing here is absolutely amazing. It’s life-changing, and I feel like it’s a new start for me.”
