Nikki Bella recently recalled a frightening mistake from her high school days that could have ended with several people getting hurt. The WWE Hall of Famer was reminded of the incident while talking with her twin sister Brie Bella on “The Nikki & Brie Show” about some of their earliest experiences behind the wheel.
The story centered around a sandwich shop that was a regular hangout for students at their high school. Brie remembered Nikki pulling into the only available parking spot, which was directly in front of the store and facing a group of juniors and seniors.
“So in high school, it’s like this sandwich spot where everyone went to, like, all high school. And Nicole goes, and of course the parking spot, like, in front of the sandwich shop, facing the sandwich shop, with all the seniors and juniors.”
Nikki Bella then explained what happened when she tried to park. Instead of pressing the brake, she hit the accelerator and sent the car through the bushes toward the students.
“Instead of hitting the brake to park, you guessed it, I hit the pedal. You guys, I went through the bushes. If I didn’t hit that brake so quick, I would’ve probably killed 30 people. I mean, everyone, and everyone’s looking at me like, ‘Holy (expletive)’”
Nikki managed to stop the car before hitting anyone, but the embarrassment and fear kicked in immediately. She said she was too nervous to get out or even reverse because she was worried about hitting the accelerator again.
“I was like, ‘I’m not getting out and getting a sandwich.’ I’m not even… I was too scared at that point to reverse and I was gonna hit the pedal again. I just, I like froze. I was like, ‘I’m never showing my face ever again.’ You know when your head feels, like, gigantic? I just was so thankful that I didn’t hit anyone.”
Brie recalled watching the scene unfold and joked that she wanted to pretend she did not know Nikki. The twins then moved on to another childhood memory before Nikki remembered that the sandwich shop incident was not her only early driving scare.
“Yeah, you got a couple, like, weird situations like that. And I feel like there was a couple more. And, like, the first day I got my driver’s license and with JJ, I, like, forgot that when you go around a corner, you don’t hit the pedal yet, your brakes. I remember I floored it and we went up on two wheels.”

The story comes as Nikki’s WWE return has moved into another storyline. She returned from injury at SummerSlam 2026 and later became involved in a feud with Paige, defeating her on the September 11 episode of SmackDown.
Nikki’s focus then shifted toward Chelsea Green. On the September 18 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, she confronted “The Hot Mess” and made it clear that she wanted a shot at the WWE Women’s Championship.
“The Fearless One” had already made her intentions known before the confrontation, telling Green that she was coming after the title. Green, meanwhile, had successfully defended the championship against Nia Jax the previous week.
That leaves Nikki with a new target following her issues with Paige. While her high school driving story ended with a close call and a memory she can laugh about now, her latest WWE chapter could put her directly in the championship picture.
