The Atlanta Falcons finally got things rolling in their Week Three matchup against the Packers at Green Bay. With Michael Penix Jr. back under center, running back Bijan Robinson and wide receiver Drake London put on a show. Robinson had 194 rushing yards and 213 all-purpose yards, and London caught nine passes for 194 yards. A great night all around for the offensive starters. Except for one. Kyle Pitts, for his part, spent most of the night blocking with fellow tight ends Austin Hooper and Charlie Woerner. Well, this regime fed its three-headed offensive monster?
In the 2025 season, offensive coordinator Zac Robinson got 1,478 rushing yards from Robinson, plus 820 receiving yards, 919 receiving yards from London, and a team-leading 928 yards from Pitts. This trio did it despite inconsistent quarterback play.
Pitts, for his part, had a 1026 yard season in his rookie year with Falcons legend and current president of football, Matt Ryan. Since then, due to a combination of inconsistent play and play calling, Pitts hadn’t come close to those heights until last season. Before then, people accused Pitts of lacking the drive to be the “generational” tight end he was sold as. Plagued by drops and inconsistent route running, people were beginning to replace generational with bust.
When London was injured with a PCL strain late in the season, Kirk Cousins only had one true receiving threat, Pitts. And Pitts took full advantage of the opportunity, picking up where London left off and adding another thousand-yard season to his resume.
Fans are eager to see Pitts do it again to prove last season wasn’t an outlier. However, the first two games have left him unable to contribute due to inconsistent quarterback play. In Week Three, Penix Jr. and offensive coordinator Tommy Rees were very comfortable feeding Robinson and London, and when that worked, Pitt’s greatest contribution was blocking for his teammates.
There’s plenty of time for Pitts to get going with his fellow offensive superstars, London and Robinson. You should have a great opportunity in New Orleans, under the bright lights of Monday Night Football in Week Four.
