The MLS announced the 2026 MLS All-Star Game earlier today, and the opponents will be the Liga MX All-Star Team. The match will be played in Charlotte, North Carolina, at the Bank of America Stadium.
The match will be played on July 29, 2026. The MLS has yet to confirm the players who will be a part of the MLS All-Star team for this summer, but a roster announcement could be done in the next few months.
The MLS teased that Lionel Messi could play alongside other star players in the league, like Son Heung Min, Thomas Muller, and Tim Ream.
Messi has never played in the MLS All-Star Game since he joined the league with Inter Miami in 2023. This year could be different with the additions of Son and Muller to the league last year.
Messi has played against both players. Messi played against Son of LAFC in the first weekend of the 2026 MLS season, and Thomas Muller of the Vancouver Whitecaps in the MLS Cup Final in December.

The MLS confirmed that tickets will be on sale in a few weeks, and many fans will be able to attend the friendly match, as the Bank of America Stadium holds a capacity of 75,037.

The 2026 MLS All-Star Game will have tickets sold through its official website: MLSsoccer.com/AllStar.
Tickets will go on sale on March 24, 2026, at 10 a.m. ET/ 7 a.m. PT in the United States. These ticket sales are for the public, and the MLS is also offering pre-sale tickets, courtesy of Charlotte FC.
MLS: "Presale ticket package opportunities from Charlotte FC will begin on Tuesday, March 3. For more information, fans can call Charlotte FC at 704-593-4100."
The MLS briefly spoke about the MLS roster and wrote, "The MLS All-Star roster will consist of 26 total players: 2 players selected by MLS Commissioner Don Garber, 11 players selected by a fan vote, and 13 players selected by the MLS All-Star head coach."
All the players in the MLS All-Star roster and the MLS All-Star head coach will be announced on a 'later date'.
