Wisconsin and No. 4 Notre Dame kick off their respective college football seasons on Sunday night in one of the biggest games of the opening weekend. The highly anticipated matchup is scheduled to take place at the iconic Lambeau Field in Green Bay, home of the Green Bay Packers.
The Badgers enter the season looking to reverse a difficult stretch after consecutive losing seasons for the first time in more than three decades. Notre Dame, meanwhile, starts the year with College Football Playoff expectations after finishing the 2025 regular season 10-2.

The game is part of Notre Dame’s Shamrock Series and marks just the third college football game played at Lambeau Field.
Wisconsin enters its fourth season under head coach Luke Fickell. The Badgers have turned to transfer quarterback Colton Joseph, who arrives from Old Dominion after accounting for 2,624 passing yards, 1,007 rushing yards and 34 total touchdowns last season.
Notre Dame is led by Marcus Freeman and enters the season ranked No. 4 in the AP preseason poll. Quarterback CJ Carr returns after a strong first season as the starter. Carr started all 12 games in 2025 and completed 195 passes for 2,741 yards and 24 touchdowns while completing 66.6% of his attempts.
Notre Dame last faced Wisconsin in 2021, winning 41-13 at Soldier Field. The Badgers are 2-0 in season openers under Fickell and now face their toughest opening test of his tenure.
