Munetaka Murakami and the Chicago White Sox enter Game 2 of the American League Division Series with a 1-0 series lead over Stephen Vogt and the Cleveland Guardians.
First baseman Murakami knocked in the deciding two-run home run in the fourth inning off Cleveland’s left-handed starting pitcher Parker Messick. Chicago used five pitchers to finish the game. Right-handed pitcher Grant Taylor went four innings, recording six strikeouts along with the save. The Guardians only had three hits total and will look to rally the bats for Game 2.

Chicago will send left-handed pitcher Anthony Kay (10-9, 4.44 ERA) to the mound, while Cleveland will let right-handed pitcher Gavin Williams (14-8, 3.76 ERA) start Game 2.
Will Venable will look to take the White Sox from prior seasons of 100 losses to a team that makes the American League Championship Series. The White Sox have struggled on the road this season, going 36-45 in road games and 84-78 overall.
The Guardians have a 29-10 record in games this season when they hit at least two home runs, with left fielder Angel Martinez leading the team with 18 home runs. Chicago, on the other hand, ranked third in the AL with 211 total home runs. Along with the aforementioned Murakami and his 35 home runs, shortstop Colson Montgomery and third baseman Miguel Vargas also went for more than 30 home runs, with 31 and 33, respectively.
Chicago can advance to the AL championship series with a win on Monday.
