The No. 7 Miami Hurricanes begin their 2026 college football season on Friday with a difficult road test against the Stanford Cardinal at Stanford Stadium.

The Hurricanes are coming off a 13-3 season that ended with a loss to Fernando Mendoza and the Indiana Hoosiers in the national championship game. Miami enters 2026 with another talented roster and a new starting quarterback in Darian Mensah, who transferred from Duke after leading the ACC with 3,973 passing yards and 34 touchdowns last season.

Stanford already has one game under its belt. The Cardinal opened the season with a 37-27 victory over Hawai’i on Aug. 29, giving new head coach Tavita Pritchard a win in his first game leading the program. Micah Ford scored three touchdowns in the victory, while Michigan transfer Davis Warren started at quarterback.

Miami: Mario Cristobal enters his fifth season as head coach. Mensah takes over at quarterback after his standout season at Duke. Wide receiver Malachi Toney returns after leading the nation with 109 receptions and finishing with 1,211 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns in 2025. Cornerback Ja’Boree Antoine is listed as out, while tight end Luke Gilbert is also out for the season.
