Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream will host Breanna Stewart and the New York Liberty in the WNBA semifinals on Sunday.
Atlanta (30-14) entered the 2026 WNBA Playoffs as the No. 4 seed, defeating the No. 5 seed Washington Mystics 2-0 in the first round. This is the fourth straight season that the Dream have made the WNBA Playoffs.
New York (26-18), led by its star forward Stewart, finds itself in a familiar situation, having made its third semifinal appearance in the past four years. The Liberty defeated Olivia Miles and the Minnesota Lynx 2-0 to advance to the semifinals, led by Stewart’s 27.5 points per game average in the first round.

On Thursday, the WNBA announced that Dream forward Reese was awarded the 2026 WNBA Defensive Player of the Year. The 24-year-old forward ended the season leading the league with 12.1 rebounds per game while also averaging 1.8 steals and 0.7 blocks per game during the 2026 WNBA regular season.
Stewart is the engine of the Liberty team, finishing the regular season with a team-high 20.8 points per game along with team highs of 1.4 steals and 1.3 blocks. Sharpshooting guard Sabrina Ionescu is a lethal scoring threat for New York, with the 28-year-old averaging 15.5 points per game on 38.9% shooting from 3-point range so far in the playoffs.
The WNBA semifinals are a best-of-five series, with the winner heading to the WNBA Finals.
