The Philadelphia 76ers begin the 2026-27 preseason Monday night when they host the defending NBA champion New York Knicks at Xfinity Mobile Arena.
Philadelphia enters the preseason with one of the league’s most intriguing new-look rosters. The 76ers added four-time champion LeBron James in free agency and acquired five-time All-Star Jaylen Brown, joining Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe.
The Knicks arrive as the reigning NBA champions after winning 15 of their final 16 games to finish their championship run. New York swept Philadelphia in the Eastern Conference semifinals last season.

Knicks vs 76ers Roster Overview
The biggest names on Philadelphia’s roster will not be available Monday night. LeBron James, Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey have all been ruled out of the preseason opener, meaning fans will have to wait for another opportunity to see the Sixers’ projected core together.
Philadelphia will also be without Anfernee Simons, Dominick Barlow, Adem Bona and Tacko Fall. Simons and Barlow are being rested, while Bona has not been cleared following a foot issue. The absences leave Jaylen Brown and VJ Edgecombe as the only members of Philadelphia’s projected starting five available to play.
Knicks head coach Mike Brown plans to use his starters, including Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns and OG Anunoby, on a limited workload. Brunson was cleared after offseason wrist surgery, but the Knicks are expected to give their reserves and younger players significant opportunities as they begin their title defense.
Philadelphia and New York will meet again Oct. 20 at Madison Square Garden on opening night, when the Knicks will raise their championship banner before hosting the Sixers.
