The New York Islanders begin their 2026-27 NHL season Wednesday night when they visit the Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena.
Toronto is already playing its second game after opening the season Tuesday against the Montreal Canadiens. The Maple Leafs fell 3-2 despite two goals from William Nylander, while new addition Gavin McKenna made his NHL debut.
The Islanders enter their opener looking to start a new season on the right foot after missing the playoffs last year. Bo Horvat, Kyle Palmieri and Mathew Barzal headline an Islanders group that will face Toronto four times during the expanded 84-game regular season.
