Bruins Face Quick Turnaround Against Wild
Saturday presents a different challenge for Boston. The Bruins had to expend plenty of energy Friday night in Winnipeg before Peterka finally ended the game in overtime.
Boston won’t have much recovery time before facing a Minnesota team that has been resting since Thursday night.
The Wild looked impressive in their opener. Blake Coleman scored in his Minnesota debut, while Nick Foligno and Kirill Kaprizov also found the net in the 3-1 victory over Nashville. Newcomer Quinn Hughes recorded an assist and logged a team-high 27:30 of ice time.
Jesper Wallstedt made 19 saves while filling in as Minnesota’s primary goaltender with Filip Gustavsson injured.
Good Start For The Bruins
Boston brings plenty of early momentum of its own.
Jeremy Swayman opened the season with a 24-save shutout against the Rangers, and the Bruins followed it by finding a way to win a much different game in Winnipeg.
Hagens scoring his first NHL goal Friday added another encouraging development for Boston, while Peterka’s overtime winner gave the Bruins a memorable beginning to their first road trip.
Saturday will test their legs.
It also gives Boston an opportunity to make an already impressive opening week even better.
Two games down. Two wins.
Now the Bruins head to Minnesota looking for No. 3.
