The No. 6 Alabama Crimson Tide travel to Knoxville on Saturday to face the No. 14 Tennessee Volunteers in one of college football’s most anticipated annual rivalries.
Both teams enter the matchup with 5-1 records, giving this meeting major implications for the SEC race. Alabama suffered its first loss of the season last week, falling 20-17 to the Georgia Bulldogs after a late defensive stand denied the Crimson Tide a comeback.
Tennessee, meanwhile, bounced back from its loss to Texas by beating the Arkansas Razorbacks 24-17. The Volunteers will look to use their home crowd at Neyland Stadium to secure another important conference victory against their longtime rival.

Alabama vs Tennessee Players to Watch
Alabama quarterback Keelon Russell leads the Crimson Tide offense with 1,599 passing yards and 12 touchdowns against two interceptions through six games. He threw for 185 yards and one touchdown in last week’s loss to Georgia. Alabama could be without leading receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams, who sustained head and knee injuries against the Bulldogs.
The Crimson Tide will also look to running back Trae’shawn Brown, who recorded 90 rushing yards on nine carries against Georgia. His ability to produce on the ground could help Alabama manage Tennessee’s pass rush.
Tennessee running back DeSean Bishop is a key player for the home team. He has rushed for 678 yards and eight touchdowns this season, including 138 yards and a touchdown in the win over Arkansas. His production will be important against an Alabama defense trying to limit the Volunteers’ ground game.
The Volunteers’ quarterback situation is another point to monitor. George MacIntyre started against Arkansas with Faizon Brandon sidelined by a shoulder injury, and Tennessee had not officially named its starter for the Alabama game in the latest reports.
