For years, Chelsea Green has been of WWE's most entertaining performers without the championship recognition to match. That changed Sunday night at SummerSlam when Green climbed the ladder to capture the Interim WWE Women's Championship, completing one of the company's most unlikely and well-earned success stories.

Unlike many top stars, Green didn't connect with audiences by being presented as an unstoppable force. Instead, she embraced being WWE's most over-the-top complainer, turning every loss, backstage segment and comedic meltdown into must-see television.

What began as an exaggerated "Karen" character gradually evolved into one of the most consistently entertaining acts on SmackDown, with fans appreciating her willingness to fully commit to every role.

Ring Skills Back Up the Character

That personality also translated into the ring. Green steadily rebuilt credibility over the past year, becoming a two-time Women's United States Champion while proving she could balance comedy with serious championship performances. Qualifying for the SummerSlam Ladder Match was another sign WWE viewed her as more than comic relief.

At SummerSlam, Green capitalized on the chaos that defines ladder matches, outlasting a stacked field to secure the biggest victory of her WWE career and finally earn world championship gold.

The victory represents more than a title change. It's validation that authentic character work still resonates with WWE audiences, despite Michael Hayes' comments on Unreal.

The long-term picture will become clearer once Rhea Ripley returns from injury, but for one night at SummerSlam, there was no question who the audience wanted. Inside U.S. Bank Stadium, Chelsea Green received one of the loudest reactions of the evening, and WWE rewarded that connection with the biggest victory of her career.
