Haiti and Scotland make their long-awaited returns to the FIFA World Cup when they meet in their opening match on Sunday.
Scotland has been waiting nearly three decades to return to football's biggest stage. The Scots are back at the World Cup for the first time since 1998 after missing seven consecutive editions.
Their most recent major tournament appearance came at UEFA Euro 2024, where they were disappointingly eliminated in the group stage.
Meanwhile Haiti's return is also remarkable. The Caribbean nation is playing in the World Cup for only the second time in its history and its first appearance since the 1974 tournament in West Germany.
This is an important opening fixture for both teams. With Brazil and Morocco also placed in Group C, Haiti and Scotland know that a win here could play a significant role in their hopes of reaching the knockout stage.
