Fans of beloved actor James Van Der Beek are rallying together this week to support his family.

It was confirmed on Wednesday that Van Der Beek passed away at the age of 48. The "Dawson's Creek" and "Varsity Blues" actor was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 2023. He's survived by his wife, Kimberly Brook, and six children.

“Our beloved James David Van Der Beek passed peacefully this morning. He met his final days with courage, faith, and grace,” the family said in a statement. “There is much to share regarding his wishes, love for humanity and the sacredness of time. Those days will come. For now we ask for peaceful privacy as we grieve our loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend.”

Shortly after this tragic was announced, Van Der Beek's friends launched a GoFundMe campaign.

"In the wake of this loss, Kimberly and the children are facing an uncertain future. The costs of James’s medical care and the extended fight against cancer have left the family out of funds. They are working hard to stay in their home and to ensure the children can continue their education and maintain some stability during this incredibly difficult time. The support of friends, family, and the wider community will make a world of difference as they navigate the road ahead," the fundraiser states. "Your generosity will help cover essential living expenses, pay bills, and support the children’s education. Every donation, no matter the size, will help Kimberly and her family find hope and security as they rebuild their lives. Thank you for considering a gift to support them."

The goal for this GoFundMe was to raise $1.5 million in donations. Well, it didn't take long to accomplish that.

As of this Thursday afternoon, the Van Der Beek family has received over $1.58 million in donations.

At this rate, it wouldn't surprise us if this GoFundMe campaign reaches $2 million by this weekend.

We're keeping Van Der Beek's family in our thoughts.
