Jaxson Dart isn’t lacking confidence entering his second NFL season.
The New York Giants quarterback is preparing to open the 2026 season against the Dallas Cowboys on “Sunday Night Football,” immediately putting the 23-year-old back into one of the NFL’s most recognizable rivalries.
Dart was asked Wednesday about his history playing in rivalry games and whether he had ever dominated one in the past.
His answer should get the Cowboys’ attention.
“Most rivalries I’ve totally dominated,” Dart said with a smile, according to SNY Giants.
It’s a bold comment heading into Giants-Cowboys, but Dart does have some recent history against Dallas working in his favor.

Dart’s rookie season ended with one of his best NFL performances.
The Giants defeated Dallas 34-17 on Jan. 4, with Dart completing 22 of 32 passes for 230 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. His 110.2 passer rating was the best of his rookie season.
Now he’ll get another shot at the Cowboys in his first game of Year 2.
Dart showed plenty of promise after the Giants selected him No. 25 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft. He appeared in 14 games and made 12 starts, completing 63.7% of his passes for 2,272 yards, 15 touchdowns and only five interceptions.
His ability as a runner made him even more dangerous.
Dart added 487 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on 86 carries, giving New York a legitimate dual-threat quarterback around whom to build its offense.
Giants-Cowboys Rivalry Takes Center Stage in Week 1
For all of Dart’s confidence, recent history in this rivalry overwhelmingly favors Dallas.
The Cowboys have won 16 of their last 18 meetings against the Giants, although New York’s victory in the 2025 season finale snapped a lengthy run of Dallas dominance.
That makes Sunday night’s rematch especially interesting.
Dart enters his sophomore season as New York’s unquestioned starting quarterback, while new Giants coach John Harbaugh will make his regular-season debut with the organization.
New York will also have the benefit of playing at MetLife Stadium.
There will be much more at stake than Dart’s playful comment once the Giants and Cowboys take the field.
But with the season opener approaching, the Giants quarterback certainly isn’t shying away from adding a little more juice to an already heated NFC East rivalry.

Dallas will get its opportunity to answer on Sunday night.
