The New York Giants are entering a new era this summer, but the beginning of that transition will take place far from home. As the franchise prepares for its first training camp under new head coach John Harbaugh, unexpected logistical challenges tied to the FIFA World Cup have forced the team to relocate its preseason preparation.
Instead of opening camp at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey, the Giants will travel roughly 470 miles southwest to White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.
The move marks the first time since 2010 that the Giants will hold training camp away from their home base. According to NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo, the decision was driven by a combination of construction upgrades at the team facility and preparations surrounding World Cup matches scheduled at MetLife Stadium.
“World Cup and construction send the #Giants camp on the road for the first time since Albany in 2010,” Garafolo wrote on X. “The team is headed to the Greenbrier.”
The Giants are expected to spend the first two weeks of training camp at The Greenbrier Resort, a historic property located in the Allegheny Mountains. The resort features a sports performance center, two grass practice fields, and a FieldTurf surface, facilities designed to accommodate professional teams during extended stays.
The Greenbrier is no stranger to the NFL. The New Orleans Saintsheld training camp there from 2014 to 2016, while the Houston Texans used the site in multiple seasons, including last year. Other teams, including the Cleveland Browns, New England Patriots, Arizona Cardinals, and San Francisco 49ers, have also utilized the facility during training periods or road trips.
For the Giants, the temporary relocation coincides with a pivotal organizational transition.

The franchise made a major offseason move by hiring Harbaugh and giving him full control of football operations. Harbaugh previously served as head coach of the Baltimore Ravens from 2008 through 2025 before parting ways with the organization. His arrival signals a new direction for a Giants team seeking stability and competitive consistency in the NFC.
The change in camp location, however, was driven largely by external factors. MetLife Stadium will host matches during the FIFA World Cup, prompting significant construction and temporary infrastructure projects in the surrounding parking areas. Those projects are expected to limit parking and access near the Giants’ facility throughout the summer.
Training camp dates have not yet been announced and will likely be finalized after the NFL releases its regular-season and preseason schedule in mid-May. Most practices during the Giants’ stay in West Virginia are expected to be open to the public.
Following the initial two weeks, teams typically shift into the rhythm of preseason games and regular-season preparation.
For the Giants, the unusual location adds another layer to an offseason already defined by change. The combination of a new head coach, roster adjustments, and an unconventional training camp setting will shape how the franchise begins its next chapter.
And when camp opens this summer in the mountains of West Virginia, the road back to contention will officially begin.
