San Francisco Giants manager Tony Vitello is in his first year with the team and in the majors after spending the first two decades of his coaching career in college. He has a lot to learn though, such as having the right amount of awareness when trying to make comparisons.

Last night, following his Giants' 7-2 win over the New York Mets, Vitello started talking about star slugger Rafael Devers and tried making a comparison of him to golf icon Tiger Woods. but Vitello realized that it was probably a bad time to make any remarks about Woods given the DUI arrest he had this week and stopped himself mid-sentence. He tried to laugh it off before moving the conversation.

"And then (Devers), I mentioned golf, you know Tiger ... Oh, I guess bad timing," Vitello said before facepalming and laughing a bit.

Funny Dude

As much as golf fans might not have appreciated that remark from Vitello, baseball fans absolutely loved it and believe that Vitello has just the right attitude to make them like him:

"Lowkey starting to like this dude a lot," one user wrote. "Funny pressers every time."

"This guy is way too cool, funny and hot to not like," another remarked.

"Comparing your star player to Tiger Woods is either the best or worst compliment depending on the week," wrote a third.

"Tony is gonna be great… this was an exceptional hire by the Giants"

Late last week, Woods was involved in a single-vehicle rollover crash near his home on Jupiter Island, Florida, when his Land Rover clipped a slower truck while attempting to pass, causing the SUV to flip onto its side. Woods walked away from the crash uninjured; deputies responding to the scene noted he appeared lethargic, with bloodshot and dilated eyes, and showed signs of impairment during field sobriety tests.

A breathalyzer registered 0.00% alcohol, but Woods refused a urine test, and law enforcement later found hydrocodone pills in his pocket, leading to his arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) along with misdemeanor charges for property damage and refusal to submit to lawful testing. Authorities said he told them that he had been looking at his phone and adjusting the radio right before the crash.

In the aftermath, Woods entered a not-guilty plea in court and announced that he would step away from competitive golf to seek treatment and focus on his health, a decision that means he will miss the upcoming Masters Tournament and highlights broader concerns about his well-being.
