The San Francisco Giants have had a nightmare 2026 season and sit 16.5 games back of the third and final National League Wild Card spot.
While the team has not performed at the level that fans were hoping, there have been some clear bright spots in the organization.
One of those being breakout rookie Bryce Eldridge.
The 21-year-old was drafted by the Giants organization in 2023 and made his major league debut last September.
He has been a star at the top half of the Giants lineup this season.
Unfortunately, Eldridge has been away from the team and on the bereavement list due to the passing of his grandfather.
It was announced on Wednesday that the rookie will be rejoining the team Wednesday and back in the lineup on Thursday.
The team was able to pick up two games against the Cincinnati Reds in Eldridge’s absence.
On the season, Eldridge is slashing .252/.346/.435, good for a .781 OPS, with 14 home runs, 35 RBI and 15 stolen bases across 87 games.
His return to the lineup is crucial as the team enters a series against the division rival Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday.
