The honeymoon phase between John Harbaugh and the New York Giants' fan base appears to be over.

When the Giants named Harbaugh their head coach for the 2026 season, most fans in New York celebrated the hire. To be fair, he's a Super Bowl winner who has a 180-113 record in the regular season. He should immediately stabilize an organization that has lost its way over the past decade.

Harbaugh was expected to name Todd Monken his offensive coordinator for the 2026 season. His plans were ultimately derailed by the Cleveland Browns because they hired Monken as their head coach.

While there's no doubt Monken was Harbaugh's preferred choice, it didn't take long for him to pivot.

On Tuesday, the G-Men reportedly hired former Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy. It didn't take long for analysts to question that move.

"His development of young quarterbacks have been awful," ESPN's Marcus Spears said. "I'm not indicting Matt Nagy as a bad coach. All i can look at is the last time you had two young quarterbacks, they didn't perform well. Now Jaxson Dart going into his second year is going to be under his tutelage. It doesn't give me a lot of confidence, but maybe something has changed."

Giants fans aren't fond of Nagy.

"Let's not sugar coat this and doll it up," a fan wrote on X. "If Nagy was any good he wouldn't be sitting here right now available for us to scoop up. He was legit like our 5th option because we got screwed everywhere else. This is a bad hire no way around it."

"I’m not skeptical," a second fan said. "I KNOW this is the worst hire imaginable."

"I trust John Harbaugh," a third fan replied. "This hire still sucks."

"Not here to sell you on Matt Nagy, I’m very skeptical of this hire but he did not call plays in Kansas City the last three years," a Giants fan commented. "Andy Reid did."

Nagy has a potential-packed quarterback at his disposal in Jaxson Dart. If the Ole Miss product regresses in 2026, fans will be calling for a new offensive coordinator.

Suffice to say, there'll be a lot of pressure on Nagy this fall.
