With Jaxson Dart sidelined indefinitely, the New York Giants are scrambling for help at the quarterback position.
Dart suffered a left knee injury this past Monday night against the Los Angeles Rams. His MRI results showed damage to his MCL, PCL and meniscus. As a result, he’ll be out for the remainder of the regular season.
There’s no question Dart’s absence will impact the Giants. The Ole Miss product has 2,522 passing yards, 541 rushing yards and 27 total touchdowns in just 14 starts.

That being said, the Giants are doing everything in their power to give John Harbaugh’s quarterback room some help.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Giants have made calls on quarterbacks this week. They could add another signal-caller to their roster shortly after their Week 3 game against the Tennessee Titans.
“The Giants spent the week making calls on QBs after Jaxson Dart’s injury, and league sources believe it’s a matter of when, not if, they acquire one — possibly as soon as Monday,” Pelissero said.
Who will the Giants acquire?
If the Giants aren’t interested in trading for a quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo would make a lot of sense. He flirted with retirement this past summer, but he ultimately held off on hanging up his cleats.
Since entering the NFL in 2014, Garoppolo has completed 67.4% of his passes for 15,828 yards and 96 touchdowns. The Giants would most likely welcome his experience and efficiency.
In the event the Giants are willing to make a trade, J.J. McCarthy’s name has been mentioned as a potential option.
“J.J. McCarthy, in theory, could come to the Giants, play well and then have trade value somewhere else,” ESPN’s Mike Greenberg said.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Giants address their need at quarterback.
