Jaxson Dart suffered a serious injury against the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night, but the New York Giants have not yet announced a timeline for his return.
Initially, the Giants thought Dart would miss a few weeks with an MCL sprain. General manager Joe Schoen even told ESPN that his second-year quarterback “is going to be OK.” On Tuesday, however, Adam Schefter and several other NFL insiders reported that Dart could be out for the year.
Despite that bleak report, the Giants aren’t ready to rule out Dart. Why is that the case? According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Giants are weighing a few timelines for their young quarterback.
“It’s not an ACL [injury], but the MRI told a different story than the Giants were initially expecting. There was more damage than what the evaluations onsite showed. Sources are telling us there are a few timelines on the table – none of them good,” Garafolo said. “One of them is season-ending for Jaxson Dart.”
Garafolo said the Giants and Dart are going to come together and make a collective decision on what’s the best plan moving forward.

An irreplaceable loss for the Giants.
Dart proved how valuable he can be by finishing his rookie season with 2,272 passing yards, 487 rushing yards and 24 total touchdowns. The Giants were hoping he’d take that next step in his career this season.
After watching Dart pick apart the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1, fans in New York were wondering if this could be a playoff team.
Now, Giants fans are already thinking about the 2027 NFL Draft. That’s how important Dart is to this team.
Hopefully, the Giants release an encouraging update on Dart in the coming days.
