New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo had an impressive rookie season. The 5-foot-10 RB was the 105th overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft. He rushed for 410 yards and scored seven total touchdowns in his first year.
Unfortunately, Skattebo was ruled out for the rest of the season due to an injury. He dislocated his ankle during their Week 8 rematch against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Despite that, new Giants head coach John Harbaugh still has high praise for the 2022 Big Sky Offensive Player of the Year. The 24-year-old running back returned to practice at the end of New York’s minicamp last month.
The Giants had a chance to pick another running back in the 2026 draft. However, the Arizona Cardinals drafted Jeremiyah Love with the third overall pick.
Nevertheless, Harbaugh and the Giants are still confident that they’re in good hands with incoming third-year player Tyrone Tracy and Skattebo as their RBs.
The 2019 AP NFL Coach of the Year winner recently talked about Skattebo and how he helps his squad.
“I thought he was just what you saw, a downhill runner, a tone-setter type runner,” Harbaugh said. “He’s a tough tackle. That’s what you look for.”
Harbaugh also discussed Skattebo’s presence and IQ, calling him a “top-tier back.”
“How many guys can make yards when they’re not supposed to make yards on their own?” he added. “... You guys know better. You watched him up close and personal. He’s a top-tier back, and he’s planning on playing that way this year.”
Skattebo looks to make a bigger impact for the Giants this season after his rookie year was cut short.
