The New York Giants have finally provided closure regarding Jaxson Dart and his Week 2 injury.
During the first half of the Giants-Rams game on Monday night, Dart suffered a left knee injury that forced him to undergo imaging. The initial belief was that he’d eventually return this season, but Adam Schefter later reported that season-ending surgery could be an option for the talented quarterback.
On Wednesday morning, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo revealed why the Giants haven’t made a final decision on Dart’s 2026 season.
“It’s not an ACL [injury], but the MRI told a different story than the Giants were initially expecting. There was more damage than what the evaluations onsite showed. Sources are telling us there are a few timelines on the table – none of them good,” Garafolo said. “One of them is season-ending for Jaxson Dart.”

Unfortunately, Ian Rapoport just announced that Dart is officially out for the year. Although his ACL is intact, surgery is coming for the Ole Miss product.
Schefter added that Dart suffered damage to his MCL, PCL and meniscus.
Devastating blow to the Giants.
Dart was sensational for the Giants as a rookie, racking up 2,272 passing yards, 487 rushing yards and 24 total touchdowns. His production gave the fan base something to be excited for this season.
With Dart now out for the year, the Giants will need Jameis Winston to step up at quarterback.
We’re certainly wishing Dart the best in his recovery process.
