George Pickens was dynamic for the Dallas Cowboys during the 2025 NFL season. Pickens finished eighth in the league in receptions (93), third in receiving yards (1,429) and tied for eighth in touchdowns (nine). The Hoover High School graduate was recognized by the league with his first All-Pro honor and earned a Pro Bowl nod from fans.

After being unable to come to a long-term deal with franchise owner Jerry Jones, Pickens signed a franchise tag with Dallas on April 29, giving him a one-year, $27.3 million payday for the 2026 season. With the 6-foot-3 wide receiver radio silent after missing voluntary spring workouts, there was speculation about his commitment to the team.

With the Cowboys holding mandatory minicamp this week, ESPN's Todd Archer reported Monday that Pickens arrived to take his physical, with the impetus being to avoid a fine. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer announced that same day that Pickens would be limited after missing the voluntary workouts. With rumors swirling, Pickens decided to clear the air about his future with America's Team.

On Tuesday, while speaking with the media, Pickens discussed his offseason and confirmed his role with the team next season. The Star-Telegram's Nick Harris took to social media to relay the message. In a post on X, Harris wrote that Pickens confirmed he will play in Dallas next season, will not hold out or hold in, and is here to make the best decision for the team and himself.

"Cowboys WR George Pickens confirms he will play this season," Harris wrote on X. "From his comments, it appears the drama is over for this offseason. 'I'm just here to make the best decision for the team and myself.' He says he will not hold out or hold in at training camp."

Dallas will open the 2026 NFL regular season on the road at MetLife Stadium against the New York Giants on "Sunday Night Football." The game is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 13, at 8:20 p.m. ET.
