France was viewed as the favorite to win the 2026 FIFA Men's World Cup in North America, looking truly dominant through the group stage and early knockout round games. But then Spain got in their way on Tuesday.
Spain topped France, 2-0, in a dominating effort in Dallas, Texas on Tuesday. Spain advanced to the World Cup Final, where they'll take on the winner of Wednesday's England vs. Argentina game.
France's players have been in the global spotlight for a while. They're not used to losing on the big stage, let alone getting dominated. But they were clearly annoyed by the result on Tuesday.

Unfortunately, France's players appeared to let the loss get the best of them on Tuesday afternoon, showing bad sportsmanship immediately following the game.

France players take heat for skipping media obligations
According to Michael J. Duarte, many France players skipped out on post-match media obligations.
A fine could be coming.
"All of the French players refused to come through the media mix zone after the match. FIFA will hopefully fine them. None of the French players wanted to talk about the loss to Spain that ended their World Cup," he reported.
No one ever wants to address the media following a tough loss, but it's part of being an athlete - especially a highly-paid one.
The media are there to do their job just like the athletes, coaches, etc. And it's a bad look - and bad sportsmanship for all involved - to skip out on your obligations like that.
France will be taking on the loser of the Argentina vs. England game in the Third Place Game on Saturday night.
