As the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaches, Fox Sports is trying to amp up the excitement by offering a whopping 50 grand for someone to take a unique job during the global soccer tournament.
On Tuesday, Fox Sports announced the position of "Chief World Cup Watcher." Offered via Indeed, the job will give $50,000 to one designated fan if they watch every minute of all 104 matches of the inaugural 48-team format.
Here's the bullet point list of requirements to fulfill the role.
- Watching every minute of FOX Sports’ coverage of all 104 matches in 4K on FOX One - the Official Streaming Platform of FIFA World Cup 2026™.
- Making their fandom shine from a custom-built viewing space amidst thousands of daily visitors, tourists and commuters in the heart of Times Square for a truly unique watch party.
- Creating and sharing social content authentic to them throughout the tournament showing they’re the authority in watching and cheering for every minute of World Cup action.
The Catch
As fun as that idea sounds, it's not the traditional job that you can simply apply to and upload your resume to. Since Indeed is running the search, you have to make various changes to your Indeed profile and upload a video with the hashtag #ChiefWorldCupWatcher before a Fox Sports recruiting team headhunts you.
The "new employee" will then be unveiled in June during a live broadcast of the June 6 Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees game. The role will last 50 days, concluding one week after the World Cup Final.

Despite how unique the job sounds, plenty of users on X quickly jumped at the idea:
"I'm signing up. Where do I send my C.V. ??" one user remarked.
"Excited. The coolest opportunity up there," wrote another.
"I’d be so perfect for this," a third wrote.
"I’m already doing this," another joked.
The FIFA World Cup kicks off on June 11 as World Cup co-host Mexico takes on South Africa.
