FOX is facing some backlash for Danica Patrick’s special role at the Freedom 250 Grand Prix in Washington, D.C. on Sunday.
Patrick, 45, started her racing career in IndyCar, before moving over to NASCAR. Patrick will have a special role in FOX’s 90-minute prerace show in Washington, D.C. on Sunday. The special race is taking place in our nation’s capital this weekend, in honor of America’s 250th birthday.
“Special, expanded prerace coverage begins at 11:30 AM ET on FOX and FOX One. Four-time INDIANAPOLIS 500 champion Helio Castroneves and former INDYCAR driver Danica Patrick, the most successful woman in open-wheel racing history and the highest-finishing female in the INDIANAPOLIS 500, join Emmy Award-winning host Chris Myers, for a special 90-minute prerace show that will delve into the day’s landmark event while honoring all four branches of the United States military,” Fox Sports announced.
“Acclaimed FOX Sports reporter and renowned storyteller Tom Rinaldi, winner of 17 national Sports Emmy Awards and seven national Edward R. Murrow Awards, offers special features and interviews live from Washington.”

But while Patrick is certainly an accomplished driver, she has many critics these days, due to her ventures into the political world. Others have also just taken issue with her commentary in things like NASCAR and Formula 1.
FOX criticized for Patrick’s role Sunday
“She single-handedly setback women in motorsports by like 10 years because of her behavior in nascar and comments as a f1 reporter. She also has said multiple times that she doesn’t think women should be allowed in Motorsport,” one fan wrote.
“Danica is going to be a tough watch on Sunday,” one added.
“If Danica is part of the broadcast, I won’t be watching,” another fan added.
“Bad enough Chris Myers and Danica Patrick will be on the pre race. I’m fortunate that I’ll be there and not have to suffer through this,” one fan added.
“Yeah, I’m not watching this,” one fan added.
The pre-race festivities will start at 11:30 a.m. E.T. on Sunday. Will you be tuning into Patrick’s broadcast?
