Unless New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel pulls a fast one and allows Drake Maye to dress and play Thursday night against the Indianapolis Colts – it's doubtful he will even partake in pre-game – we should see ample parts of backup Tommy DeVito and rookie seventh-round draft pick Behren Morton.
Fans know DeVito pretty well, having seen him make eight starts with the New York Giants and then catching on here in New England for 2025 as the third/emergency quarterback.
But what about Morton? He's been busy, immersing himself in Josh McDaniels' offense this spring and summer.
Learning process for the rookie
"Every single day we get in there, it's cool, because there is always something you can improve on, trying to not make the same mistake you did the day before, but it's been good," said Morton, earlier in training camp.
"It just goes fast. Everything is elevated in training camp. You get one shot at it, and you had better be ready to go. I'm just trying to take advantage of the opportunities I get, just trying to maximize that."

No portal for him
Morton played five years of college football at Texas Tech, starting 36 games over his career, going 26-10 as the starter and 11-1 as a senior.
Two college coaches
Recruited to the Red Raiders by head coach Matt Wells, Morton slid into the starting QB role at Texas Tech for the new head coach, Joey McGuire.
He stepped in for starter Tyler Shough, now with the New Orleans Saints, when the latter was injured during the 2023 season.
Last college game
Morton's final game for Texas Tech was the Orange Bowl/College Football Playoff national quarterfinal.
The Red Raiders fell 23-0 in that one as Morton went 18 for 32 with a pair of interceptions.
Played for dad
Morton played for Eastland High School in Texas, starting four years for his dad, James.
He threw for an amazing 8,800 career yards at Eastland and exited as a four-star recruit.
