Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark just avoided a one-game suspension, and former WNBA star Chiney Ogwumike is happy with that development.
Clark received her eighth tech of the season late in the third quarter of Saturday's game against the Chicago Sky. A referee assessed Clark a tech after the All-Star guard accidentally hit the game official on the sideline.
During the play, Clark was attacking the basket before getting some contact with Natasha Cloud. She was unable to control her movement, causing her to stumble and eventually brush against the referee.
Clark clarified after the game that the hit was not intentional at all. Furthermore, she didn't say anything to the referee that would warrant a technical foul.
As a result, the WNBA quickly rescinded the technical foul, reverting Clark's count to seventh. For those unaware, a player's eighth tech carries a $1,500 fine and a one-game suspension.

On the latest broadcast of ESPN's WNBA Countdown, the crew discussed Clark's tech and the WNBA's decision to rescind it. The analysts were in agreement that it shouldn't have been called, with Ogwumike stating that "there's nothing there."
"I'm glad that they rescinded it because for that action being minimal, like a brush, this is what should have happened," Ogwumike stated. "And the right thing happened."
With Clark avoiding suspension, she should be available to suit up for the Fever when they face the New York Liberty on Tuesday.
Indiana will certainly need Clark's help as the team looks to further climb the WNBA standings. The Fever improved to 20-12 on the season with a win against the Sky, propelling them back to No. 4.
