It's been over six months since Sherrone Moore's downfall as head coach of the Michigan Wolverines. And while the worst of his own legal troubles seem to be behind him, the University of Michigan could be facing new problems of their own.

According to OutKick, former Michigan aide Paige Shriver - the woman who was a key figure in the Moore case - is suing the school over allegations that the university withheld records relating to the investigation into the scandal.

On Wednesday, Shriver's legal team filed a suit against the university, accusing them of violating the Michigan Freedom of Information Act. Per the report, school officials are accused of breaking the law by not providing all records to the Jenner & Block lawfirm that investigated the scandal.

In a statement, attorney Andrew M. Stroth detailed what the suit will entail:

"The lawsuit filed today demands transparency and accountability from the University of Michigan, President Grasso and the Board of Regents," Stroth said, via Fox News. "This public university paid Jenner & Block $12 million to investigate the Sherrone Moore scandal and the abuse, Title IX and Title VII violations within the athletic department and Schembechler Hall, yet now refuses to release the investigation's findings. It was important for our client to file this initial FOIA lawsuit to ensure the truth and facts come out."

The Scandal

Moore was dismissed as head coach of the Michigan football program in December 2025 after a university investigation concluded there was credible evidence that he had engaged in an inappropriate relationship with Shriver, a staff member at the time. The firing came during a turbulent period for Michigan football, as Moore had already faced NCAA scrutiny stemming from the Connor Stalions sign-stealing investigation, although the university stated his termination was based on the workplace misconduct investigation rather than the NCAA case. The school fired Moore for cause, ending his tenure after two seasons as head coach.

Hours after his dismissal, Moore was arrested following allegations that he confronted Shriver at her home. Prosecutors initially charged him with felony home invasion and several misdemeanor offenses, but those charges were later resolved through a plea agreement in which Moore pleaded no contest to misdemeanor trespassing and malicious use of a telecommunications device. He received 18 months of probation.

Michigan would hire Kyle Whittingham to replace him in the aftermath of the scandal.
