At one time running back Miles Sanders was a Pro Bowler for the Philadelphia Eagles and a driving force in their 2022 Super Bowl run. But as a free agent hoping to find a team in 2026, he’s suddenly in a world of trouble.
According to CBS Pittsburgh via the New York Post, Sanders was arrested on DUI charges back on June 8. The arrest occurred in the Pittsburgh area when he was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance and careless driving.
The criminal complain stated that an officer found Sanders “slumped over” in the driver’s side of a Lexus on the side of the road in the William Penn Highway. Sanders was found to be “in and out of consciousness” and “extremely lethargic” during the investigation.
Police stated that Sanders “performed poorly” on field sobriety tests and tested positive for alcohol. Per the report, police also found marijuana in his car.
His court date is set for September.
Sanders’ agent speaks
Sanders’ agent Phil DiLucente didn’t have much to say regarding the status of the 2022 Pro Bowler other than to call it “a private matter” that hasn’t yet had a single hearing.
“This is a private matter that has not even reached the preliminary hearing stage and there will be no further comment,” DiLucente told KDKA-TV.

Sanders was a second-round draft pick out of Penn State in 2019 and immediately became a starter for the Eagles. He had over 1,300 yards from scrimmage as a rookie and finished fourth in the Rookie of the Year voting that season.
Over the next couple of seasons he would have nearly 2,000 yards from scrimmage and score six touchdowns despite missing nine games.
Sanders’ 2022 season was the best of his career as he had 259 carries for 1,269 yards and 11 touchdowns, earning his first and only Pro Bowl selection in the process. He continued to dominate in the postseason, rushing for 148 yards and two touchdowns in three playoff games.
Sanders signed a four-year deal with the Carolina Panthers in 2023 but struggled and wound up losing the starting job to Chuba Hubbard before the end of the season. The next year he appeared in just 11 games and had a career-low 205 rushing yards in 11 games.
He spent 2025 with the Dallas Cowboys, rushing for a new career low of 117 yards in just four games.
