Former LSU and NFL wide receiver Demetrius Byrd has found himself in big trouble with the law after drawing a weapon during an altercation on a bus in Florida.
According to CBS News Miami, Byrd pulled out a multi-tool from his pocket and revealed the blade then asked the victim "Who wants to die?" while approaching them. The victim reportedly managed to talk Byrd down before things got more dangerous.
Byrd was subsequently arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was held in a Miami-Dade County jail and later granted a $5,000 bond.
However, Byrd also has to appear before a judge for an outstanding warrant related to a separate case of domestic violence.
Byrd and the Tigers
Byrd was a two-year starter at wide receiver for the LSU Tigers between 2007 and 2008. In 2007, the year the Tigers won the BCS National Championship, Byrd led the team in receiving touchdowns and was only 35 yards off leading receiver Brandon LaFell.
In 27 games for LSU, Byrd had 72 receptions for 1,134 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Byrd tried to make his mark on the NFL too, but suffered a car accident before the 2009 NFL Draft.
He was ultimately taken 224th overall by the Chargers and did not play as a rookie. He was released during the 2010 offseason and never played a down in the NFL.
In a 2010 interview, Byrd lamented that he should have been a second-round or even a first-round draft pick before the car accident. He said he didn't find out that he was drafted until after he came out of an accident-induced coma.
“I was supposed to get drafted in the second round somewhere like that. I could have slipped to the first round, you never know,” Byrd said told Max Strauss of Prointerviews.org. But I had a great combine, but unfortunately I was in the hospital, out of my mind; I was in a coma, so I didn’t even know I had gotten drafted. I woke up out of the coma, I told my mom, ‘What am I doing here? I got to get ready for the draft.’ She told me, ‘You already got drafted.’ And I was like, ‘Whoa!'”
