Fernando Mendoza is widely projected to go No. 1 overall in the 2026 NFL Draft, with the Las Vegas Raiders holding the top pick.

Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak is excited about the possibility of teaming up with the 2025 Heisman Trophy winner.

“My exposure is very limited,” Kubiak said. “I saw him play the national championship game, I saw the interviews he’s given after those games and how team-oriented he is. I look forward to getting to know the player better, but obviously a really talented guy with a bright future. We’ll see. We’ll see where it ends up. But we’ve got a lot of work to do to get to know him before that time comes.”

But will Mendoza actually go No. 1 overall?

A former NFL scout is sparking controversy with his ranking, as he doesn't have Mendoza among the top quarterback prospects.

In fact, the former NFL scout has Mendoza ranked No. 7 among all of the top quarterback prospects.

NFL fans react to the controversial ranking

NFL fans aren't buying it.

"I can see why you are a FORMER nfl scout," one fan wrote.

"I took a screenshot so we can all laugh at you in a year or 2," one fan added.

"You see the same thing I do with Mendoza. Its amazing what hype and winning does to a guy who looks like an ordinary qb to me. He reminds me of Alex Smith. Great person. Not a franchise qb," one fan added.

"This is gonna be worse than your 2024 QB rankings," one fan added.

"I bet Allar falls to the second or third round. What a bargain for the team that acquires him," one fan added.

What do you make of the rankings?
