Colin Kaepernick, former quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers and social justice advocate, has made a career announcement. Kaepernick was the quarterback for the 49ers against the Baltimore Ravens in the 2013 Super Bowl XLVII. The 6-foot-4 quarterback performed admirably, throwing for 302 yards and rushing for 62 while accounting for two touchdowns despite the 34-31 loss.
Kaepernick was drafted by San Francisco in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He spent his entire career in the Bay. Known for his athleticism and elite arm strength, he notably kneeled during the National Anthem in an attempt to silently protest, which started a national controversy. The last time we saw the Nevada Wolfpack product in action was on Jan. 1 2017, in a 25-23 loss to Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks.

Kaepernick ended his final season in 2016 with the 49ers playing in 12 games, throwing for 2,241 yards on a 59.2% completion percentage with 16 touchdowns and four interceptions. In his six year NFL career, he played in a total of 69 games, all with San Francisco. He threw for 12,271 yards on a 59.8% completion percentage for 72 touchdowns and 30 interceptions. In addition, he ran for 2,300 yards on 6.1 yards per carry for 13 touchdowns.
He ended his career acrimoniously, filing a grievance against the league in 2017, accusing the league of blackballing him. This led to a lawsuit filed against the league in 2019, with attorney Mark Geragos representing Kaepernick. The NFL eventually settled with Kaepernick for just under 10 million.
Coming up on an NFL season that will eclipse the decade mark of his last NFL game, it seems that Kaepernick has been reminiscing on the time elapsed. He took to Instagram to announce his newest career endeavor, authoring a new book "The Perilous Fight". Kaepernick has an extensive history in the world of books. He founded the publishing house "Kaepernick Publishing" in 2019, and has authored numerous works. This is the seventh book that Kaepernick has been involved with. Below is the full list.
