That contrast in styles is exactly what got former Eagles linebacker Emmanuel Acho talking, and he wasted no time picking a side when asked who's more thrilling to watch.
"The more exciting player is Cristiano Ronaldo, obviously," Acho said on the Speak Easy podcast. "As it pertains to athleticism in soccer, superhuman speed, superhuman vertical leap, especially back when he was in his prime, superhuman strength. Right footed or left footed, it doesn't matter. Free kicks, penalty kicks, it doesn't matter. Cristiano Ronaldo is an absolute specimen from a freakazoid athletic standpoint. That is what makes him so special. That is what makes him so exciting."
Brady's resume doesn't need much help making its own case. Across 23 NFL seasons he won seven Super Bowls, more than any franchise has won on its own, and he walked away holding the all time records for passing yards with 89,214 and touchdown passes with 649.
What truly set him apart was how long he stayed at that level. Strict routines, careful recovery and a refusal to slow down kept him playing elite football well into his forties, and he didn't retire until 45, just after adding one more Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021.
"If you're talking excitement, Cristiano Ronaldo, he supersedes that of Tom Brady," Acho added.
Ronaldo Still Delivering At The World Cup
Ronaldo's path has run on a similar track. At 41, he's still a central figure for Portugal, and he just proved it again with a man of the match performance against Uzbekistan at the 2026 World Cup.
The brace made him the first player ever to score in six different World Cups and pushed him closer to the 1,000 goal milestone across club and country.
His leap, his speed and the shape he's kept his entire career have turned into legend at this point.
Just like Brady, the secret has never just been talent. It's the training, the recovery and the discipline behind the scenes that's kept him near the top long after most players his age have walked away.
