Former NFL head coach Adam Gase is back.

Gase, 47, was the head coach of the New York Jets from 2019-20. He was fired by the Jets after two disappointing seasons. Gase previously served as the head coach of the Dolphins. He was an assistant coach in Denver, working with Peyton Manning.

After being out of the NFL coaching game for five years, Gase has returned. He's back following a five-year hiatus.

Longtime NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport broke the news that Gase is returning to the coaching game on Monday.

"He’s back: After a five-year hiatus, Adam Gase returns to coaching in the NFL, joining the #Chargers as an assistant focusing on the passing game, sources say. The former #Jets and #Dolphins coach rose in the ranks as a record-setting offensive mind. Now back to his roots in LA," he reported.

NFL fans react to Gase's return

"5 years is an eternity in coaching. Glad to see him back and trying to work his way back to the top," one fan wrote.

"That’s really interesting. Other sports rarely recycle coaches," one fan added.

"Guy failed upward for years and now he’s back like nothing happened. Chargers fans better hope he stays far away from play calling duties because his track record speaks for itself," one fan added.

"This man should be banned for how bad he made Darnold look," one fan added.
