Former MLB pitcher Brian Wolfe died this Tuesday, Sept. 15. He was 45 years old.
Wolfe made his MLB debut in May 2007 for the Toronto Blue Jays. The right-handed reliever stayed with the franchise through 2009, owning a 5-5 record with a 3.81 ERA and 47 strikeouts.
After the 2009 MLB season, Wolfe joined the Nippon Ham Fighters of Nippon Professional Baseball. He then won a pair of Japan Series titles with the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks.
Wolfe’s wife, Rachell, confirmed that he passed away on Tuesday. No cause of death has been provided at this time.
“I’m sorry to write this but after a really really difficult and torturous battle Brian Wolfe passed away early this morning,” she wrote on her Facebook account.

Heartbreaking loss for the MLB community.
Former MLB outfielder Brandon Barnes posted a video on Facebook this Wednesday about Wolfe’s death. He’s understandably devastated about Wolfe’s death.
“Life is too short,” Barnes said. “I know everybody says that, but I just lost one of my best friends and a mentor. Eventually, there’ll be a last conversation with somebody you love.”
Several fans of the Blue Jays have offered their thoughts and prayers online for the Wolfe family.
“R.I.P. Brian Wolfe. You will be missed,” one fan said.
“Former Blue Jays reliever Brian Wolfe died yesterday at the age of 45,” another person wrote. “My condolences to his family.”
May he rest in peace.
