The Los Angeles Dodgers are getting Tarik Skubal.
The Dodgers made a blockbuster trade for the Detroit Tigers Cy Young pitcher late on Saturday night. Just before midnight, the trade was finalized. The rich are getting richer in Los Angeles.
"Today the #Dodgers reportedly acquired LHP Tarik Skubal ($30.2M surplus trade value) from the #Tigers in exchange for OF Zyhir Hope ($22.4M) and RHPs Brady Smith ($1.5M) and River Ryan ($0.1M) ($24.0M ttl). The deal is accepted by our model as a moderate underpay by Los Angeles," Baseball Trade Values stated.
"Hope is a solid centerpiece, a clear top 50 prospect with a big league future. One's opinion on this deal likely hinges on River Ryan. He's talented, but is about to turn 28 and only has 20.1 MLB innings under his belt. Our model doesn't see much value, but the Tigers likely do."

But in the wake of the trade, the Dodgers are clearly taunting the rest of the league, as they didn't even have to go that deep into their farm system to make the blockbuster acquisition.

It's an embarrassment of riches and player development, Bowden - the former Washington Nationals GM - said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
"So the Dodgers acquired Zyhir Hope from the Cubs for Michael Busch and River Ryan from the Padres for Matt Beatty & drafted Brady Smith in 3rd round of '23 and turned them into Tarik Skubal. Got it," he taunted.
Again, the Dodgers are only doing what the rest of baseball is allowing them to do.
But it's fair for all to be upset.
