According to Aaron Wilson, former Jacksonville Jaguars running back DeeJay Dallas was signed to the Minnesota Vikings‘ practice squad on Sept. 2.
Dallas was released by the Jaguars during roster cutdowns last Sunday.
The former Miami Hurricane appeared in three games for the Jaguars last season after spending part of the year with Carolina. Dallas then remained with the team through offseason programs and training camp.
Dallas, 27, was a fourth-round draft pick by Seattle in 2020 out of Miami and is reuniting with General Manager Nolan Teasley after spending 2025 with Carolina and Jacksonville. He mainly carried the rock for the Seattle Seahawks where he appeared in 61 games from 2020-23 and 17 for Arizona in 2024 prior to splitting time with the Panthers and Jaguars.
The Jaguars have a crowded running back room, and Dallas was the odd man out at that position group. The Jaguars are carrying Bhayshul Tuten, Chris Rodriguez and LeQuint Allen on their current depth chart, while the fourth running back spot went to veteran running back Ameer Abdullah.
In 84 career games, Dallas has rushed 124 times for 538 yards and four touchdowns. He also has caught 64 passes for 407 yards and two scores and returned 89 kickoffs for an average of 25.3 yards and one touchdown.
As a kick returner, Dallas returned 89 kicks for 2,254 yards, including a touchdown in 2024 in Arizona.
His kick return average of 25.3 yards per return ranks sixth among active players.
The Jaguars then also signed UDFA J’Mari Taylor, who flashed during training camp, to the practice squad.
Dallas appeared in all three preseason games with the Jaguars, carrying the ball 33 times for 87 yards. He had a receiving touchdown as well.
Dallas would’ve been a good option for the Jaguars in their new running back group, but at the end of the day they made the right choice going with Taylor, Abdullah, Tuten and Rodriguez.
While the Jaguars don’t have a star at running back anymore after losing four-year veteran Travis Etienne, the running back room has a lot of depth and Tuten has the skill set to lead the balanced attack.
Tuten is projected to finish the 2026 season with roughly 925 to 1,000 rushing yards and eight touchdowns via Fantasy Pros.
DeeJay Dallas will now be featured in a running back room that boasts Aaron Jones Sr., Jordan Mason and Demond Claiborne.
