With the NFL season just over a month away, former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is making headlines for the wrong reason.
Fox 6 reported that Romo was arrested in Milwaukee on Thursday night. He was pulled over while "traveling on southbound I-43 on the high-rise bridge," per the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office. He was charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence.
“He was taken into custody for OWI book and release,” WISN reported. “In Wisconsin, a first-offense OWI is generally a civil offense, not a criminal charge. The citation typically carries a fine ranging from $150 to $300.”

TMZ obtained and released Romo's mugshot from the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office. The four-time Pro Bowler didn't seem all that concerned about the situation he found himself in.
Several fans were confused as to why Romo was smiling in his mugshot.
"OOOOOHHHHGN HERE WE GO GIN," PFT Commenter commented.
"Smiling in your mugshot is CRAZY," one person wrote on X.
"I bet he talked about Mahomes on the ride to the station," a second person said.
"Why does he look so jolly in the mugshot," another person asked.
What's next for Tony Romo?
Although he's best known for his career with the Cowboys, Romo has been a broadcaster for CBS Sports since 2017. He became quite popular in the booth due to his ability to predict plays before they even happened. His popularity has dipped over the past few seasons though.
Barring a surprise move by CBS, Romo is on track to be the network's No. 1 color commentator for the 2026 NFL season.
Romo is currently scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 21. The public will probably receive more information in the coming weeks.
