Before No. 1 Texas and No. 14 Tennessee squared off on the gridiron this Saturday, the fans at Neyland Stadium were treated to an interesting rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
During the final minutes of ESPN’s “College GameDay,” Rece Davis and the rest of the crew paused their discussion to show the national anthem as well as the pregame flyover, which featured two F-35 Lightning fighter jets and a KC-135 Stratotanker.
While the atmosphere at Neyland Stadium was truly sensational, fans weren’t exactly amused by the national anthem.

“This Tennessee national anthem is the most unserious thing I’ve ever heard,” one fan declared.
“What was that national anthem in Knoxville,” a second fan commented.
“What was happening during that Tennessee national anthem?” another fan asked. “Gotta sing or play it, can not do both yikes..”
“Top 10 worst national anthem of all time by on ESPN,” a social media user wrote on X. “Tennessee always finds a way to ruin something.”
There’s plenty of drama surrounding this game.
It was confirmed earlier this week that President Donald Trump will be at Neyland Stadium to watch this showdown between Texas and Tennessee.
According to Texas coach Steve Sarkisian, the president’s presence could present challenges for both coaching staffs since communication inside the stadium gets cut off when Trump switches locations.
“Anytime the President changes locations within the stadium, they cut all communication. They cut your headsets in terms of coach to player communication. So you have to plan for that,” Sarkisian said.
We can’t wait to see how this SEC matchup unfolds.
