President Donald Trump will be in Georgia today for an upcoming rally and he’ll be bringing one of the state’s favorite football players with him on Air Force One: Todd Gurley.
According to Greg Bluestein of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the former Georgia running back has joined President Trump and will be on his side for the upcoming rally. He is the latest in a series of Bulldogs current and former players to join him in building up support for political candidates and causes, including legendary running back Herschel Walker and current QB Gunner Stockton.
“Former Georgia football star Todd Gurley will be riding aboard Air Force One with President Donald Trump for his trip to Georgia on Friday, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Greg Bluestein reports,” the outlet reported.
Fans express their disappointment
Given how polarizing President Trump is these days, it shouldn’t be a surprise that news of Gurley’s decision to join forces with the President has gotten a lot of people upset. Gurley is getting called every name in the book on social media (which we won’t share) and criticized for allying with the President’s agenda:
“I don’t feel bad about the injuries anymore,” one user on X declared.
“Is Gurley or someone he loves in need of a pardon?” another asked.
“That’s disappointing,” a third said bluntly.
“Time to burn my Gurley jersey then.”
There are plenty of people who love both Gurley and President Trump and will be delighted to see him at the rally on Friday.

As a freshman at Georgia in 2012, Gurley had 222 carries for 1,385 yards and 17 touchdowns as the Bulldogs went on to finish 12-2 and ranked No. 5 in the nation.
Unfortunately, injuries started to take a toll on him over the next two seasons but he still enjoyed back-to-back seasons over 900 rushing yards and over 98 yards per game over his final 16 games in college.
The Los Angeles Rams wound up taking him No. 10 overall in the 2015 NFL Draft. He was a three-time Pro Bowler, a two-time First-Team All-Pro selection as well as the 2017 Offensive Player of the Year.
Despite his injuries in college, Gurley only missed eight games in six NFL seasons and was a two-time NFL touchdowns leader. Nevertheless, he didn’t play in 2021 and retired in 2022.
